Here is a spalted Burl Ash pipe tamper: Electus. The top of the pipe tamper is crowned with 100% pure Baltic Amber. The Amber material I use for my tampers I cut, shape, and polish. This particular tamper measures 3.75 inches in length and tapers down to 1/2 inch at the brass tamper end. The hidden pick measures 2 inches and has a flat end profile to help remove ash. The pick screws directly into the ash body via a mating threaded brass insert...so the thread contact is brass to brass.
The tamper section is pure brass (tamper, thread, and pick) polished to a very high shine. The top of the pipe tamper is crowned with 100% pure Baltic Amber. The Amber material I use for my tampers I cut, shape, and polish. This particular tamper measures 4.75" length and the width is .60" and tapers down to .48" at the brass tamper end. The pick measures 1.9" and has a flat end profile to help remove ash. The pick screws directly into the ebony body via a mating threaded brass insert...so the thread contact is brass to brass. Please note that overall size varies ever so slightly from the picture to the various tampers I make in this particular category.
